Very productive day.  RV7 builder, and Learjet Captain, Scott Will stopped by to help me finish riveting the top skin.  His advice about air pressure sure made the process better!  Thanks Scott!  Lunch was on me, and what a great investment!

The builder pauses to admire the milestone.

Mary bucks her first rivet.  She has talent!

Got started preping the leading edge,

  1. OK. I'll bite. What was the advice on air pressure?? Also, are you taping over the rivets to protect the surface during riveting?

  2. I had the compressor set at 100 PSI, and expected the brass adjuster at the gun to cut it down. I guess it can only do so much. Scot suggested adjusting the compressor down to 50 PSI, and it took much of the drama our of the riveting process.

I taped the rivets to protect the surface, but also to prep the job for efficiency . Everything was ready to go when Scot arrived. He did not need to watch me place hundreds of rivets in holes while he waited with the bucking bar in hand.
